Teaching since Fall 2001 – 3rd year in 2nd grade

Magic Milk

I have to clear this with my Principal, AP, and Science Vertical Team, but I think we could do a cool science contest with this video. I am thinking of showing it on the announcements, and putting a copy on the student server – so they can watch it on their own. Then students would have to come up with a hypothesis about why this happens, and an experiment to test the hypothesis. The properly designed hypothesis and experiments would be randomly chosen and those students receive a prize. I’m thinking free time on computers and an opportunity to try their experiment, including filming it to show on our announcements.

The alternative would be that they correctly identify why this happens and explain it, but that isn’t as high level as designing the experiment.
